Tank Containers
Tank containers are used to transport liquid cargoes, such as: 1) foodstuffs: fruit juices, spirits, sweet oils; 2) chemicals: hazardous materials, such as fuels, toxic substances, corrosion protection agents. These containers must be at least 80% full. This is very important as it can prevent dangerous surging of the liquids in transit. But on the other hand, they must not be over 95% full, or there will not be sufficient ullage space for thermal expansion. To fill the tank in and not to mistake, you can use special formula, with the help of which the extent of thermal expansion may be calculated. It is: ΔV = Va • γ • ΔT, Ve = Va (1 + γ • ΔT); where ΔV- change in volume, Va – volume at initial temperature, Ve – final volume at temperature, γ – coefficient of cubic (thermal) expansion, ΔT – temperature difference in degrees kelvin.
Types of tank containers and their uses
Those tank containers that are intended for transporting foodstuffs must be labeled “Potable Liquids only”. Some hazardous materials must be transported in tank containers with no in- or outlet openings below the surface of the liquid. These containers are generally designed for an operating pressure of up to 3 bar (above atmospheric). The test pressure used is 4.5 bar (above atmospheric). Tank container can also be equipped with insulation or heating if it is needed for cargo. Temperature sensors help to control the temperature of the.
Different kind of tanks
If your business requires fuel to be readily available onsite or if you need a better storage system for flammable and combustibles liquids, then consider using a self bunded tank. A self bunded tank is made of double steel walls, making them effective for self containment and suitable for onsite fuel storage. A self bunded tank is well known for its toughness and durability. Its double steel walls prevent any spillage of the liquids it contain, ensuring that the area is kept safe from damage or contamination. Having this double walled tank in your business location is also a cost effective way for your employees to refuel vehicles and machineries without having to make trips to a gas station. A self bunded tank is also easily installed and relocated, making it ideal for even remote locations. There are different types of self bunded tanks, all suitable for petroleum, petrochemical and chemical applications.
